Jamie Thompson

Fine Artist Jamie Thompson graduated from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA, and received a Masters of Fine Art degree from SUNY New Paltz. She has exhibited in various galleries located in the United States as well as internationally.
Jamie works with a combination of printmaking, drawing, painting and collage, which deal with themes of memory, family, home, nature and the ephemeral. Her art reflects the concept of a memory by evoking the many layers of personal history embedded within.
Jamie often blends images of herself with family and strangers within her work. Jamie portrays her subjects by highlighting unique characteristics often overlooked or misunderstood. The personalities of her subjects are represented through colorful brushstrokes juxtaposed by a more simplistic background.
Jamie's Artist Books include text delved from memories, creating situations that people throughout time have experienced and can relate to such as love, death and friendship.
The themes of Jamie Thompson’s artwork are not only personal to her, but are rendered in a way that allows the viewer to have their own intimate relation to it. Jamie's work focuses on the diverse characteristics which make us all human and the idea of the home as an overarching symbol of humanity.
